Neenah papers worked with the agency Addison to come up with the vision for its Annual Report. ilovedust was on hand to collaborate with Addison. Using all of the elements of Neenah, ilovedust created a graphic cover full of bold shapes for the eye to explore. Following publication, the Annual Report won a Graphis Platinum award. Graphis is an international journal of visual communication that maintains the ‘absolute highest level of creative integrity’, awarding only the best design and printed materials.

Instead of promoting Dubai as a playground to tourists, the city is taking a new turn and promoting new services to its citizens. The latest development is the Dubai Metro, a public transportation system expected to carry 1.2 million passengers a day over 75 kilometers of lines. To promote this massive project, Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai set forth on a full scale campaign to bring the Dubai Metro to life. At the heart of the campaign is the intricate, whimsical, unique artwork of renowned New York artist Josh Cochran. Cochran’s illustration depicts the connectivity the Dubai Metro offers to the various famous icons of Dubai such as the Burj Al Arab, The Palm and the Jumeirah Grand Mosque.

Mini Cooper celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Am I Collective worked with agency Blackriver FC on the “Through the Ages” campaign that features typographic elements creating the shape of the car. Each phrase represents a specific era in time.
After the print campaign Am I Collective suggested the idea of using its illustrations in an animation. Blackriver FC was quite keen and loved Am I Collective’s treatment, giving them the go-ahead and creative freedom to create a viral ad that matches the Mini Cooper’s playfulness and energy.

Ad agency DDB Canada along with production company Sons and Daughters created a TV commercial for Knorr Sidekicks featuring “Salty,” an original Bigshot Toyworks design. Salty is the brainchild of Klim Kozinevich and Scott Wetterschneider of Bigshot Toyworks, a creative studio specializing in the design and production of unique collectible toys and art objects.

Pocko, in collaboration with Magma, has initiated an exciting new project involving 20 international, award-winning B&A/Pocko artists.
Artists including McFaul Studio, Nomoco, Jorge Alderete, Fernanda Cohen, Staffan Larsson, and Adam Hayes have each customized a series of wooden Matryoshka dolls, using a variety of techniques, from oil painting, ink and watercolor to collage and soldering. Pocko photographer Judith Erwes and animation studio Captive have both produced bodies of work inspired by Pocko Matryoshkas which will be exhibited alongside the dolls.
POCKOSHKO will have the chance to be appreciated by many, starting with an exhibition in the 3 Magma stores as part of the London Design Festival which began Saturday 19th September, and will continue their journey, passing by NYC, Madrid and Milan, to a special final auction, 2 RUSSIA WITH LOVE, in aid of a Russian children’s charity.
For the September issue of Wired, Benjamin Wachenje worked on a series of illustrations for a 3-page advertorial on the Nokia N97 mobile phone and personal navigation device. Nokia was so pleased with the advertorial that they used Wachenje’s illustrations for a full-scale installation in their flagship stores in New York and Chicago.
Blending traditional illustration with digital techniques, London-based illustrator Von of HelloVon creates alluring and fantastical images in his show Semblance, now showing at Cerasoli Gallery in California. His subjects lure you in with curiosity and a sense of an alternate reality – be sure to see his work before the show ends on October 14, 2009.

Shepard Fairey’s latest project is Art for Obama, a book filled illustrations that were inspired by Barack Obama and the groundbreaking 2008 presidential election. Much of the artwork is from the Manifest Hope art show in January preceding Obama’s inauguration. Featured artists include Andrew Bannecker, Gary Baseman, Tristan Eaton, and SNO & Shepard Fairey. Andrew Bannecker’s image (left) was chosen for the cover (right).
Fairey co-edited the book with Jennifer Gross and all proceeds go to Americans for the Arts, a non-profit organization that promotes art throughout the nation.

If it wasn’t for a professor at the University of Kansas who asked to see John Hendrix‘s sketchbook, Hendrix might still be laboring over his tightly-wound, dry-brush paintings that he saw as “serious art.” At grad school at SVA, instructors noticed the off-the-cuff sense of humor in his drawings and once again encouraged him to put down the paintbrush. Nowadays, Hendrix has free reign with ultra-thin pens and fluid acrylics to produce the rich, detailed illustrations that depict the tumultuous and apocalyptic scenes he is known for.
